Ranch Road 1
An Ideal Cyclists Training Ground
Stonewall, Texas: Ranch Road 1 is a great small road for casual cyclists and an inviting training course for fitness and competitive cycling enthusiasts. This flat 6.5 mile (13 miles round trip) road is an exquisite training ground.
Flanked by the scenic and meandering Pedernales River, RR1 features only a slight elevation gain traveling from its eastern to western ends.
It is a dream training course for competitive time trialists. The prevailing wind here is southerly, so riders face primarily a crosswind for most of the length of the road going either direction. The route offers a few minor challenges, in the form of slight dips and rises, as well as modest bends where the prevailing wind can hinder or help, but mostly this is a flat road that requires no negotiation of turns.
